Young Christians in the locality set a two-day charity event full of music in a bid to raise funds to install a water system for an Aeta village in Tarlac and to donate tables and chairs to two Baguio public schools.

Dubbed “Brevstock 13- ground zero,” the two-day contemporary Christian music extravaganza will feature selected competing high schools for the battle of the Christian bands on Dec. 7 while the gala night will be held the following day, both at the Baguio Convention Center.

Organized by the Brevarians, a community of young men and women committed to share Christ through music, arts, and media, the two-day event is supported by Bishop Carlito Cenzon of the Diocese of Baguio-Benguet.

The two schools to benefit from chairs and tables are the Rizal annex of the Baguio City National High School and Happy Hallow Elementary School.

Event organizer and Brevarian founder head Antonio Alex Manongdo said the charity event will be an avenue for diversity and non-exclusivity, meaning it is a time for people to share themselves.

Manongdo, an outstanding Baguio citizen, added the event has its tagline “1,000 voices, a thousand dreams, one foundation,” which aims to gather at least a thousand people from Baguio uniting to help build the dreams of young people.

He added after fulfilling its pledge to the beneficiaries of the charity event, the group aims to use the remaining proceeds to reproduce the recently recorded “Brevstock the Album,” a collection of powerful original compositions by members of the group.

Brevstock was established in 1999 mainly to introduce the praying of the Breviary, commonly known as the Liturgy of the Hours, to the youth, and to welcome the Great Jubilee Year 2000 and the New Millennium with renewed vigor and enthusiasm in rediscovering the treasures of the faith.

The Brevarians currently serve at the Baguio Cathedral.
