We had the privilege of putting something extra special last Christmas Eve when Fr. Seraph Balmadres asked the Brevs to do a Christmas Serenade before the Panunuluyan and Christmas Eve Mass. It was a short notice but the grace was given to pull it off as we maximized the availability of those who were serving during the whole 9 days of Misa de Gallo. Thank You, dear Lord for the opportunity to serve You.

Thirteen bands from 13 schools will vie for a title in the first battle of the Christian bands champion dubbed “Brevstock 13-Ground Zero, 1,000 voices, a thousand dreams, one foundation,” on Dec. 7 at the Baguio Convention Center.
The event starts at 8 a.m. with gala tickets priced at P100.
Brevstock 13 organizers said some 58 bands registered for the event-for-a-cause but only 13 qualified after grueling orientations, boot camps, and eliminations.
The grand finalists are: J to the 3rd Power from Baguio City National High School-main; ParaPhrase from BCNHS-Rizal annex; ThornHead from Don Bosco High School; Mix ‘n Jive from Pines City National High School-main; Rex Gentium from San Jose High School of La Trinidad; Ecclesiastical Youth from St. Louis-Aurora Hill; Rubber Band from SLU Laboratory High School; Shamma from St. Louis School Center High School Dept.; Jairus Band from St. Louis-Balatoc; Infinity Band from St. Louis-Pacdal; TP3 from St. Louis-Philex; Hymn of Tone from the University of Baguio Preparatory High School; and Masquerade from the University of the Cordilleras Laboratory High School.
The grand champion will receive P10,000 and will perform the following night (Dec. 8), at 7 p.m. together with the finest CCM artists Holy Sea Weeds, Hope Springs Eternal, Chantalle, Bundles of Joy, Lisieux Brevs, Pinoy Idol Finalist JayJay Pimpinio, Jr, and GMA 7’s Vanessa del Moral.
Bishop Carlito Cenzon of the Diocese of Baguio will have a special appearance.
The B4 dance group, a Pilipinas Got Talent finalist, will be performing as well.
Concert director Mark Robe Corpuz expressed hope the event will be able to raise funds needed to help build a water system that will benefit an Aeta community in Sitio Yangka, Capas, Tarlac.
Other beneficiaries are the Happy Hallow Elementary School and BCNHS-Rizal annex for armchairs and tables.
The top three winning bands will be performing in the upcoming Youth Jam on Dec. 15 culminating the Youth Congress 2012.

Brevstock 13 - Ground Zero
BREVSTOCK is an annual youth concert dedicated to Christ the King in thanksgiving for the year that has been and for the year that will be. It is one of the major outreach ministries of the Breviarians gathering musically talented youth and providing them a venue to showcase their God-given craft as an expression of their faith.
Launched in December of the Great Jubilee Year 2000, BREVSTOCK has since created a cult following with its annual year-ending live concerts that feature the best in Contemporary Christian Music. BREVSTOCK unites every young and old in giving thanks to God through music regardless of religious denominations or affiliations.
BREVSTOCK derived its name from Woodstock and its concept of bands playing one after the other. Christianizing it so to speak, the Breviarians dropped the word, “wood” , for Brev, and thus came BREVSTOCK, which eventually embodied the spirit and vision-mission statement of the Breviarians, to “BRing EVery Soul TO Christ the King”.
In keeping its relevance to the need of the times beyond its concept, BREVSTOCK 13 now turns its eye to seeing Christ in the poor and the needy. Labelled, GROUND ZERO, BREVSTOCK gears to restore lost hopes, rebuild broken dreams and heal shaken faiths by adopting Initiatives for Social Action Foundation as a beneficiary to support its pro-poor programs. ISA Foundation has of late been in contact with the Aeta community in the mountains of Sitio Yanka in Capas, Tarlac, which is in dire need of a basic need – WATER.
As there are 10,000 reasons to bless the Lord, here we are working to unite 1000 voices, a thousand dreams towards one foundation to make that little community live life a little better. One touching comment says that the Aetas may not have known what they really need as they are one with nature and with God, but it is they and their plight that is moving us unknowingly to generosity, to compassion, and to love.
A water system may not be much to us as to even think about it, but would it be as priceless a gift to a people who has none?
